Almost panicked when we woke up at 5:30am and the sun had already risen. As we left Furnace Creek a small coyote crossed our path. He seemed to be in a hurry to find a place to pass the day out of the heat. We made one stop along the way – Zabriski Point. There were beautiful moonscape views from here.

To the left is Zabriskie Point. To the right is Zabriskie, whose notoriety

stems from his success as a manager for the Borax Mining Company. Go figure...

From this to............. this!!

As we rode to Vegas the temperature fell to a comfortable 84 degrees. There is a beautiful area called Red Rock just before you get to Las Vegas.

We found our way to the Bellagio around 11:00 and immediately wished we were back in the desert. We were able to check in early and Val spent some time by the pool while Chris participated in a Berklee Conference call.
